123QR is a free platform for creating QR codes that redirect to a web URL you control, so the destination can change after the code is printed, and every scan can be measured.
The problem we're solving
A QR code printed on a menu, a poster or a package sits there for as long as that physical object exists. The URL you want it to open, on the other hand, often changes: a menu gets a new page, a promotion ends, a landing page gets redesigned.
A code that encodes the destination directly has to be reprinted every time that destination changes. 123QR separates the two: the printed pattern encodes a short link, and the short link's target lives in your account, where you can update it any time.
How the redirect works
When you create a code, 123QR generates a short link such as https://123qr.net/r/abc123 and builds the QR pattern around that link, not around your destination.
You set the destination separately, and it's stored against the short code in our database. When someone scans the code, their phone requests that short URL, our server looks up the current destination and responds with an HTTP redirect before any page loads. The scan is logged, then the browser continues on to your destination.
Editing the destination later just updates that lookup. The printed pattern never has to change because it never contained the destination in the first place.
What we believe
- The core of the product — creating codes, editing destinations, seeing scan analytics — should be free, because a code is only useful if people can afford to make and maintain it.
- Analytics should be honest about their limits. We tell you what we can and can't measure rather than presenting estimates as precise facts.
- No dark patterns. No fake urgency, no hidden downgrade paths, no charges you didn't agree to.
- Privacy by default. We collect the minimum needed to make analytics useful and hash IP addresses rather than storing them raw.
What 123QR is not
123QR only generates codes that point to web URLs. It does not produce raw WiFi, vCard, SMS or email payloads, and it does not offer logo customisation, bulk upload or paid tiers today. See the pricing and QR code generator pages for the current, accurate feature list.
